Tuxedo Kamen, Mask and Roses

Tall, dark and handsome. Tuxedo Kamen in a nutshell. Unlike the anime portray, our hero in the manga does not just have a mouthful of pretty words and roses. My favourite form of Mamoru is by far, just the ordinary man himself. But everyone has different sides to themselves. I see Tuxedo Kamen as a more daring and bold reflection of Mamoru. As Tuxedo Kamen, he seems more assured of himself. Confidence allows him to approach Sailor Moon, and Usagi even. I thought it was pretty obvious that Mamoru was interested in Usagi in their chance encounters, but he does close to nothing to get to know her. In contrast, "Tuxedo Kamen," noticing Usagi at the Masquerade, asks her to dance with him and even tries to kiss her, with nohestitation.

I suppose it's the mask. It lets him hide. This mysterious person running around at night is not him. There's nothing to be afraid of when the other person doesn't know who you are. It's another person entirely. If something goes wrong, it's an identity that you can abandon. There's no consequences. They don't know you. You are hidden. This anonymity gives you courage and strength and power. But, despite this whole facade, I find that Stranger-Mamoru is more "hollow" than mysterious Tux in the sense that Stranger-Mamoru is an act while Tuxedo Kamen is Mamoru knowing what he wants and going for it. Do I make sense?

Roses are red and violets are blue. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet. Even the most exquisite rose has thorns. I suppose you can think of it like this: Mamoru is a dangerous pretty boy. A flower, a flower is harmless. Compared to the Senshi, the most extravagant thing he can do is throw flowers. Mercury with water, Mars with fire, Jupiter with lightning and well...Venus with something, but look at it this way: Earth, abundant in its resources with water, air, fire, lightning...all of this...nature, everything...it's all represented by a delicate, red rose. That, or it's just a pretty flower.
