Chiba (Just a Token Male)

This is what it's all about. The "meat" of the site. I try my best to back up my opinions and speculations with facts. I don't expect anyone to love Mamoru as much as I do, but I do want you to give him a second chance if he didn't exactly strike you as the most likable character of all times. Feedback is very much appreciated.

Character Analysis: I understand well that there is no such thing as one true perspective, but I like to believe that I'm not too far from what Takeuchi Naoko wanted Mamoru to be...

Defending my Bishounen - Mamoru (Manga): There is a small number of BSSM fans that will always hate Mamoru no matter how great of a character he is. Frankly, I don't care if people hate him because he does not fit into their version of the world, but it pisses me off when people think their opinions true...

Richard Cory: I've been studying a unit of poetry in my English course. A poet by the name of Edwin Arlington Robinson, wrote a poem entitled "Richard Cory" in "The Children of the Night." The poem is as followed...

Relationship with the Shitennou: The understanding between Mamoru and the Shitennou of present times is quite clear. In the 2 or 3 scenes that they are together, they interact like close friends and companions....

The Lonely Orphan: I love Mamoru angst. I have this sick fascination of seeing my favourite character in pain and it doesn't have to be mental or emotional. Physical pain is good too; the more the merrier...

Tuxedo Kamen, Mask and Roses: Tall, dark and handsome. Tuxedo Kamen in a nutshell. Unlike the anime portray, our hero in the manga does not just have a mouthful of pretty words and roses. My favourite form of Mamoru is by far, just the ordinary man himself. But..

Fanfictions; Fanarts; Fansites; Support: It's so fascinating to see how other people perceive this very same character. BSSM, the manga, has ended a long time ago but it still has a huge fanbase and there's so many variations to the original cannon. A collection of fanfiction recommendation, my attempts at fanart and links to various Mamoru and Sailor Moon centric sites can be found here.

Miscellaneous: When I'm staring at the screen or walking down the street or doing something in English (See Richard Cory), something in me just relates it back to anime. I see a connection between this and that and I jot down my thoughts if my hands are free. The ending results are semi-finished reads. Anything that is not complete or long and thorough enough are thrown in here for time being.

Upcoming

Anime Mamoru, a jerk?: Pffft. I'll show you jerk.

Memorable Moments and Milestones: A memory jog, a few opinions, a few favourite moments, both anime and manga.

Quotes and Analyses: I remember reading something in Career's class that states you don't really understand something until you see it from at least three different perspectives. So here's a little take from Mamoru's perspective, the other characters and of course, the fans and haters.

Relationships: I predict that this will be an even bigger undertaking than the Character Analysis, though I do feel that it is essential. We will see if my motivation will outweigh my laziness. Undecide article.

  • Helios: What can be deduced from the short amount of time Helios and Mamoru had together?
  • Usagi: No Usagi for (a) it's pretty obvious how much he cares about her and to what lengths he'd go for her and (b) I really don't like to think of Mamoru as nothing but a lover boy. Not everything is about romance.
  • Chibi-Usa: Classic father-material. This spoiled brat of a kid is just asking to be disowned, but what does he do?
  • Everyone else: The cats, the senshi, peers, children and so on and so forth.

Note: When I begin working on these sections and before they're complete, I usually throw them into Miscellaneous.
