Rules

  1. You must own the site you submit.
  2. Your site must be in English.
  3. We will not review fanlistings, hatelistings, link directories or message boards.
  4. We have the right to reject any application as we see fit.
  5. If you think your site is incomplete, don't bother submitting a request. If you, as the owner, think that your site is not finished, there is not a chance that strangers like us would think otherwise.
  6. If your site is the first one on a reviewer's list, please refrain from changing your layout or making major revamps. If you absolutely have to change your layout, please notify the respective reviewer at least three days in advance.
  7. While your site is being reviewed, you are free to go on hiatus if your site is still available to the public.

We only put these in so it would look like we actually put some time and energy into enforcing rules on you. They should be common sense, no? Now, on to something much more pragmatic...

Questions & Answers

Q: Do I have to link back?
A: You don't have to link back, but you most certainly can if you wish.

Q: How do I choose a reviewer for my site?
A: You don't choose reviewers; we choose you. When you submit that evil, little form, we will read through it, glance at your site, and decide whether or not we want to review it. Simple, no?

Q: How many people are going to review my site?
A: It's a top secret. Actually, we don't know that, either. Most likely, you will not be able to know that until the review is completed. Want to know how we arrived at this decision? Read the Review Guide.

Q: How long does it take for my site to be reviewed?
A: It usually takes a reviewer a week to review a site, henceforth your waiting length depends on the number of sites in queue and on the individual reviewer. We do try to finish your review within a month of submission.

Q: Do you re-review?
A: Yes, only after major changes have been made to the site. (Major changes means more than just a layout change.)

Q: Why was my request rejected?
A: Because Veve had envisioned a system where reviewers only need to comment on a site if they want to, we occasionally get requests that none of the staffs feel like completing. It might have nothing to do with the quality of your site.

Q: If my request was rejected, can I submit it again?
A: Yes. Though we recommend that you re-submit it after major changes have been made to the site. Your request was rejected because your site did not provoke any reaction (good or bad) from reviewers the first time around. If you want your request to be accepted this time, there has to be something to your site that catches our attention.

Q: Why are there spelling variations throughout the site?
A: The staffs at Captious happen to speak different variants of English. Just among us, we have American English, Canadian English and New Zealand English.
