About the Layout

I have been away from the blog “community” for years in the sense that I no longer have a URL to a WordPress powered blog with a list of links. Having migrated to LiveJournal, I found that I have missed out on an entire generation of blog-specific layouts. I was just itching to participate.

This layout is more than a little personal. I feel that it’s a collaboration between 2 other people, and it technically is. This design wouldn’t be what it is if it weren’t for the verse by Loika and photographs by Solkku. I feel that I was able to glimpse into the lives of these very talented individuals through the resources they’ve provided for me. It’s something special and it’s comforting to know I’m a part of something greater, especially something as grand as the world itself where these people exist.

I really hope that I was able to do their work justice. It’s a “make it or break it” design for a lot of people. If you fall into the latter camp, feel free to make suggestions as to how this can be made more tolerable for you. I love it enough for it to be here for a long time; hopefully, it’ll grown on you =)

It’s supposed to be give a sunset/sunrise atmosphere, but it’s not dominated in either warmth or coolness to make the distinction. The concept was to leave it open ended for the user to decide. Is the cup half-empty or half-full? Sunset or sunrise? I think the ambiguity makes some people uncomfortable. There’s also a bit of a magazine/national geographic feel to it that makes it somewhat impersonal. Yet, I believe this plays into the theme: our limit, or lack of, is a decision that is made by each and everyone of us as individuals.

I really like the design of the site, especially nifty (and original) bits and pieces like your “top” button. As I’ve always said, you’re so bold at experimenting with colours! Perhaps the title “Sensorial.org” can be something other than sheer white, but it is an effective juxtapose to the background.

Well, this is something that really diverges from your previous designs I’d have to say. That footer is an interesting component. The only things I have to say is the hand. It scared when I first saw it. Then the purple line to the right of the navigation looks quite pixellated almost like a bad JPEG… I don’t really know if that’s the meant effect. Otherwise the colors on this theme are very soothing something I feel is reflected by the photos on the banner. *stares at it for an extra minute*
