Wheel of Fortune

Wheel of Fortune

September 1st: Rearranged the folds of the shirt to better imply the twisted torso. I’m still not completely satisfied with it.

August 17th: Turn thy wheel!

One of the most memorable Shakespearean quotes for me was from King Lear: “Fortune, good night, smile once more; turn thy wheel!” Said by Kent while he was kept in the stocks when he tried to deliver a message to one of Lear’s evil daughters.

At the top our fortune, it reminds us to appreciate our success but to be humble because the wheel is always turning; however, when the fates are against us and we’re at the bottom of the wheel, it tells us to hang tight, to run forward for our time is sure to come.

I originally planned the wheel to resemble ancient Chinese currency in celebration of the Beijing Olympics to go along with the whole fortune theme, but the square didn’t go over well.
