Study: Street of Lights

3 hrs. I’m on a mission to master speed painting.

Referenced from “5 Centimeters per Second”.

Haven’t we all felt like this at one point in our lives?

You know when you take a first glance at something, and your heart just feels something? That’s how I felt when I first saw this. I’d absolutely love to be in there. It would be so fun so roam around the colorful streets while the snow falls, and your warm in your clothes, and you’re just having fun, laughing with the others around you. It’s one of those exciting times when you feel comfortable and happy and fresh and the scenery around you is astounding with bright, colorful lights. I’ve always wanted to visit Tokyo. That place seems wonderful! Well, this is another great speed paint, great job!

Leo: That’s an interesting take, and I love that you can interpret the scene in an entirely different way as a sort of a freeze-action in a happy moment that the person just stops for a second to reflect on the setting before running up and joining his or her friends again.

The scene in the movie was on the opposite end in the spectrum. He has missed his window of opportunity because he didn’t have the courage to reach out to the person he cared about. Because of that mistake, his life in the past few years snowballed into a giant mess and he’s just left alone. He does find a sense of closure at the end, however.

this reminds me of a cozy x-mas night, and you’re waiting at a corner for your lover to pick you up.
