Sensorial’Org

Portfolio and Neglected Sites

The portfolio section of the Sensorial’Org has been removed. Signed by V has been updated with the few pieces from the old portfolio that I’m still fond of as well as my latest two designs: this and the redesign for Campus-411. There are still some old pieces that I’m iffy about. In terms of skills, they are inferior but in terms of concept, they are some of my best.

Aside from the portfolio, there are two new pages that I want to add to the site. A “Resume” and testimonials page, and a scope-price list detailing how long a project of a certain scope would take and the compensation I expect. I look forward to laying it on. Writing it up? Not so much.

Sensorial’Org needs a revamp. Despite the new look, the content is old. The About Me page needs to be rewritten again. I need to look over the Linkage and check for broken links. I’m not sure what I want to do about the reviews that I’ve received and reviewed.

Neglected Sites

DigiCreation: I had wanted to create a new premade for DigiCreation before school starts again. It doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. Perhaps, I’ll put up the previous Sensorial’Org design; however, I’ve been doing that a tad too much. I don’t want DigiC to become an archive of my old designs.

I have been planning to recode the site for quite some time. I want an object driven website that’s powered by a CMS. But it seems to be such a huge undertaking to even think about how to approach the architecture. I simply can’t find the time for such things.

Chiba (Just a Token Male): My much neglected Mamoru shrine. Pages need to be proof-read, and that anime defense article that I have been “writing” for a year needs a kick. I was rather excited about the Quotes page, as well. (And that quote site that never got off the ground.) I have ideas about how the page would be laid out, but going about doing it is something entirely different. The amount of research, citing, scanning, thought…

To quote an article from Creative Behavior: “Often interactive designers will post what they feel is their best work to their Web site. While this is a good idea, I have learned that it is better to have a wide range of styles and types of projects posted online. Even if some of the work is not your best, it is better to post projects that represent a wide range of work. For instance, I have work posted in my portfolio from when I helped design the 1999 refresh of the Chevrolet.com Web site. The designs look old and dated, but the brand name recognition helps build my credibility with new clients. As designers we are often very critical of our own work. I have been pleasantly surprised by how much a new client likes a past project of mine that I consider old and inferior to my more modern work.”

Sounds like an idea, now I only wish I could talk myself into it.

I like your new design, but I’m sorry you removed all your work from here (I hoped you’d post more of your personal work after opening Signed by V).

@Nelchee: I think I’ll become a frequent of Creative Behaviour.

I understand where he’s coming from, and I do love variety. But as much as I love having a nice selection of work, I also want the work to be some of my bests.

Thanks. I have uploaded a few more personal projects onto Signed by V. Although it targetting a commercial audience, I’m not ready to totally strip away my personality just yet.

The new design is great, and it’s a nice change to see you’ve narrowed down the focus of Sensorial. I wouldn’t object, however, to seeing more of your personal artwork. Perhaps elsewhere?

I’m also glad to hear Signed by V has started off well. I took a look at Campus-411 last night, and it’s easy to see why your clients were impressed. Was this project a result of Signed by V?

Rilla (January 11th, 2007, 5:06 pm):

I really do love the structure, colours and blends in this new design. Effective link rollovers make me addicted…

Just a small typo on the bottom:
“Quotation and photograhphs courtesy of Loika and Solkku, respectively. Sensorial’Org © Veve”

Veve (January 12th, 2007, 8:29 am):

@Tyler: Thanks. I have added more personal work to Signed by V.

No directly, no. It was a local posting that I applied to; however, Signed by V was the portfolio that I showed them.

@Rilla: Rollovers make me happy too.

@Tina: Thanks. It’s been fixed.
