Rumpelstiltskin

Rumpelstiltskin

The fourth piece in the Fairy Tale series, featuring Rumpelstiltskin. Although not as well-known like the others, it’s one of my favourites. I’ve attempted to leave visual clues as to what the fairy tale is, hence the spinning wheel and crown.

The giant mushrooms were meant to be relative to his size to emphasize his dwarfness, but it just seems like out-of-the-ordinary, giant mushrooms. A lot of this was based off intuition as I did not have the luxury of time to plan out everything I want to do like the last 2 pieces. As a result, the anatomy of the figures is distorted–but it kind of works out in that Rumpelstiltskin is an odd little man. Not everything is bad, I really loved how the face turned out.

The background, however, was based off one of Julie Dillon’s illustrations. Used under the condition that it was “personal private use” such as using it for a reference picture in a school project.
