And a Happily Ever After

This is the second piece of a five part series. It deals with the story of the Pied Piper. It is an alternate ending of sorts, I suppose. The version that is often told to little kids has an ending where the children are rescued by the townspeople.
I prefer the version in which the children never returns. The painting illustrates this rendition with the presence of a grimly lit moon and silhouetted ravens or crows which represent death omens.
There should be consequences for one’s actions. The townspeople never kept their end of the bargain. They lose their kids. Although the kids were never the ones at fault, life isn’t always fair. A somewhat pessimistic outlook on life, I’m aware.
